Celtics Tune For Season

The Celtics Soccer Club warmed up for its 1982 summer season with a
2-2 tie against Aurora Soccer Club last Thursday.

This is the Celtics' second season in the senior men's Western Soccer League. Tim Dailey, coach of the St. Charles High School soccer team, and the Celtics, previous coach Bob Heilman will take the team through a two-month season ending, hopefully, with the playoff games in August.

In Thursday's game, Aurora led the Celtics through virtually the entire game with the Celtics first goal coming in the second half by Matt Glenn.

The Celtics trailed 2-1 after several frustrating goal attempts by both teams.

In the last 30 seconds of the game, Celtic goalie Dave Weekly was pulled from his position and the Celtics took control of the ball.

It wasn't until the last few seconds of the game when Celtic Jim Heilman slipped a left-foot kick past Aurora's defense to end the game in a 2-2 tie.

The Celtics begin the official season when they face Elmhurst at 6 p. m. tonight at the Kane County Fairgrounds.
