The 2007
Celtics Sports Foundation Knucklehead Charity Haircut event benefits
Lazarus House in St. Charles
What a great night this past Tuesday, February 27th, was! Celtics
Sports Foundation raised over $600.00 for the Lazarus House, in St.
Charles, through our Knucklehead Charity Haircut event at the Sportsplex.
Everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening, some food and drink, a raffle,
soccer and socializing. Contributions came from club players and family
member haircuts, spectators, individuals and Celtics kids' teams. Dr.
Tim Petsche, of Fox Valley Orthopedic in Geneva, donated his half of the
50/50 raffle winnings back to Lazarus House. Thanks Tim!
Jane Creen, of the Lazarus House, was on hand to meet our Celtics Sports
Foundation family and to see some soccer action. It was great to
introduce her to our club and she even gave us a helping hand in running
the event (its in her nature, you know). |

The Lazarus House is a
not-for-profit Emergency Shelter and Center for Transitional Living.
They provide hospitality, food, safe shelter, and support services to
men, women, and children who are homeless or in need. Lazarus House is
so much more than a shelter. Lazarus House is where people receive a
hand up, not a hand out. The Lazarus House utilizes the services of
people in the community in many various ways. You can help by
volunteering, or by helping place and mentor their guests in jobs for
which they qualify, or by donating funds. Consider volunteering and
receive the satisfaction of helping make a difference in the lives of
needy persons. Miracles really happen at Lazarus House. |

Finally, I would like to
thank Tina Pulford, of Couture Salon in Geneva, for providing the
professional haircuts (13 in all) and the Mud Family: Patrick, Laurie,
Nick, Hannah and Joshua for their helping with all of the logistics of
running our charity event. Thanks to everyone for their generosity,
support and contributions. The event truly reflected the philosophy of
The Celtics Sports Foundation, “growing soccer through teamwork”.
