Celtics Contribute to Local Charity Events
As our St. Charles
Celtics Soccer Club has grown over the last three years, we have tried to
maintain a balance of fun, fitness, friendship and community charitable
activities.
The St. Charles Celtics are continuing in 2005 to contribute to greater St.
Charles area through charitable fund-raising and volunteer work. We are
fine-tuning our efforts and are supporting two local organizations:
Riverwoods
Christian Day Camp is dedicated to serving children and teenagers in at-risk
situations. They provide dormitory-style housing, activities and a place of
worship on 80+ acres in the woods, located on the east side of the Fox
River. They have received a $200 donation from the Celtics this Spring, as
that was raised through our “Knucklehead Haircut Charity Drive”. We also
provided volunteers to Riverwoods in the Spring of ’05 to help repair
buildings, lay tile and other needed work.

IL Top Soccer is a non-profit
organization that helps children with disabilities play soccer. In 2004, we
raised $10,000 via a Celtic raffle for IL Top Soccer and hope to do
something similar later in 2005. As a result of our 2004 effort the Chicago
Fire’s Firework for Kids foundation has stepped in and is providing
administration support to aid in the growth of the program. Many of us in
the Club know specific children who benefit from this wonderful
organization.
Both organizations are ideal for St. Charles Celtics Soccer Club because:
a. They’re local to the Fox Valley area.
b. We can provide either donations or volunteer manpower.
We would like to thank all of the Celtics who have contributed their time
and/or money to these events. We are cognizant of the fact that there are
many worthy charitable organizations and we will continue to keep our focus
on the local community.
